This ugly old thing just so happens to be my very first upright bass. It has led a hard life and it shows. Every time work has been done on her she decides a month or so later that she needs more. Originally built in the mid 70’s this Romanian born plywood bass has obviously been played a lot both by myself and the oddball I bought it from.
This was and still is the best Craigslist Adventure I have been on.
This bass started to develop problems when I went to college with the bridge collapsing in the middle of class and things like that. That was when this old gal was shelved. I didn’t have the time nor resources to have repair work done and so put it on the back-burner. Fast forward about 5 years and I finally decided to take on the work myself after having a neighbor “attempt” the job of re-gluing the top back on. The bass is currently working but still in need of attention.
